My Dad’s Record Collection
From all the things that could be observed and quantified in my life, I chose to take a close look at my dad’s record collection. Since he was very young, he began collecting records, starting his passion for music, especially 70s and 80s music. With this collection, his knowledge and passion for music became more visible, and with it, my knowledge and passion for music as well. After more than 40 years, this passion became his most prized possession, having a detailed spreadsheet of over 1,000 records and CDs that he recollected and continues to collect over the years.
With all this information, careful analysis, and data review,
I was able to design a poster and nine different RISO prints showing a timeline and some of the most important key facts about his collection. This project helped me reflect on how my family, memory, and organization influenced who I am today, while also showcasing my background as part of my design practice and my personal connection to music.
