Lo que no se traduce/
what you can’t translate

There are things that simply can’t be translated. Maybe it is feelings, emotions, verbs, vernacular words, and more. Sometimes there are things that stay with us in one language and come out as something new in another. There is a feeling of not being heard, not being understood, but in a way that is not bad at all. Through this zine, a visual and conceptual exploration of the Spanish language is made, especially through typography.

It celebrates accents, symbols, the ñ, and inverted question and exclamation marks as symbols of identity, history, and pride. It acts as a small manifesto defending these marks as powerful tools for cultural expression and belonging. I am very proud to be a Latin American woman. I am proud to be Colombian, proud to be able to understand these symbols.
