From there but here

The translation word by word for De Allá pero Acá is From There but Here. I come from Colombia, and having the opportunity to experience design in a different place has been a roller coaster of emotions. What aspects change? Is it only language? Color? Feelings? There are a lot of things that keep transforming with this new experience, but the question I kept asking myself was, how does my design practice reflect that I am from there, but I am here?

After taking new steps toward what my thesis had become, I encountered new challenges, such as how to showcase the first steps and approaches of this inquiry in a single project. Answering my inquiry, talking about my symbol, my journey, and more, it is a good way to showcase how this process began.

Through colors, type, layout, and more, I was able to showcase some of these first steps in this book. With three different folds bound to it, there is a clear showcase of what it means to be from a different place and be able to design. Through different types of paper and RISO prints, this book became what will be my first exploration into my MFA thesis.
